As we begin to prepare for our upcoming select tryouts, and the formation of next years Academy teams, we like to offer a couple of clinics that kids can come out and participate in our practice session as well as parents can ask questions to myself or Sean Holmes.  If you do not know what age your player falls into, let me know and I can find out for you.  Even if you are not interested in Academy or Select soccer, feel free to bring out your player to our free clinic.
 
The Academy is an option for our U9 and U10 players, that is different then recreational soccer at those ages.  It is not for everyone, but for those players that tend to excel on their current teams, not feel challenged enough, or frustrated with a lack of structure in their normal practices, the Academy might be for you.  There is a different fee structure, much different then recreational, but we have financial assistance available as well to help those in need.  More information about the Academy Program can be found by clicking on the below link or by reading the attached Academy Info document.

Our Select tryouts for U11 thru U13 will be in June.  Competitive soccer does require more dedication and ability, but for years our Select program has continued to be as inclusive as possible, where desire, we try to provide opportunity and we have never turned a player away due to financial ability to pay.  We have the lowest fees in Central Iowa for Competitive Soccer and are very proud of our ability to offer such a stellar program at such a reasonable cost compared to others.

2012 - 2013 Competitive Team Tryouts

ü  Tryouts will be held June 5th^th and 7th^th 2012 at the Soccer South Soccer Club Complex located 1 mile east of the corner of 63^rd Street and Park Avenue at 5171 Park Ave. In case of bad weather the day of tryouts, please contact the Club’s Try-out Hotline Line at 515-865-8712 or check on-line at www.soccersouthdsm.org for tryout status.

ü  All participants are requested to bring their own properly inflated ball and water bottle. Shin guards and cleats are required equipment for tryouts. Try-out shirt must be worn during try-outs.

ü  Players will be evaluated on athletic, technical and tactical skills. A scrimmage will be held at the end of all sessions. All players will be evaluated by a minimum of two professional coaches. Players must attend at least 1 of the try-out sessions, but are encouraged to attend both sessions.

ü  The try-out fee is $20 for those that register by 5/28 and $30 if after that date.  This includes a try-out T-shirt.

ü  As a reminder, current SSSC members must register for the fall season now. Players who are not currently members of the SSSC will also need to register with the club if they are offered a select bid and accept.

ü  Competitive team offers will be made starting June 18^th and will be for the soccer calendar year, fall 2012through spring 2013.    Offers will be made by phone and/or in writing.  Players will be given 24 hours to respond.

ü  The club plans to roster teams at U11, U12, & U13 age.  If there are not enough players to field an All-Girls team in one of the age groups a Co-ed spot may be offered.
